Outside

Recently, Sandra sent me a collection of past articles from Outside online. It's a first rate site. While the writing focuses on the outdoors life, such as hiking and climbing, the articles delve deeper than a simple "Wow! what a rush" and gives balanced views of various topics, often with scientific background.

Some intriguing articles include from the current issue, Canis Soup, which examines a coyote attack in Canada and the new "Eastern" coyote. From January 2009, another article, Monsterwellen, examines modern container shipping and the extreme events which befell the APL China.

Also currently, the site is running a series from two adventurers, who are crossing on sled a frozen Lake Baikal in Russia. It's an interesting look as the two transverse the largest freshwater lake in the world. Here's a link to a video of today's Day 1.

I recommend stopping by Outside online. Check the photos and videos. Read the articles. I think you'll see the world in a wider light.
