Indian Creek 2011, Part One

Last year, we stopped at Indian Creek Nature Trail, and we encountered a lot of insects: dragonflies, spiders, fireflies, and beetles. This year, we didn't encountered as many, but still each time is its own experience, like before we hit the trail, we saw a gorgeous butterfly.

The trail winds around, crossing Indian Creek in numerous places.

One of the things that was very noticeable this time was the storm damage. There are always overturned trees--it's part of the cycle of a forest--but they were more prominent. Several of others would have also fell, except they found a buddy to lean on...

About halfway through the trail, we reached the edge of the bluff. I always find interesting how life finds its niche. Here, a patch of flowers found the edge of the bluff to catch some rays.

Moisture dripped from the bluff top and struck the side near the bottom. It's also neat to catch water in motion.
