Trolling???

After visiting Cave of the Mounds in March, Sandra and I stopped for lunch in Mount Horeb, a town just east of the cave. The restaurant of choice was The Grumpy Troll, a brewpub founded in 1996 in a building which originally opened as a creamery in 1916.

The food and beer were both good. If you're in the area, I would recommend stopping in. Afterwards, we walked a little bit around town.

Looking West Down Main Street

There is some older architecture along Main Street. Being a fan of older brick buildings, I had to snap some pics.

Mount Horeb and the surrounding area was heavily settled by Norwegians, so to reflect the history, the town is home to several trolls, one of the iconic creatures in Norwegian folk lore.

We took a stroll down Main Street, aka "Trollway", and took a look at a few.

A Troll!

I'm not sure that these trolls were quite the grumpy, often malevolent, beings of folk lore, but I do understand how small town have to offer something unique to visitors.

A Bit Mischievous?

If you didn't notice, the house in background was worth a look...so stepping back...
