Family Reunion

Sandra and I returned to Cleveland for the Thomas Family Reunion in August. This was no small affair. Sandra's father, Millard, comes from a family of 12. Add the generations that have followed and over 100 people attended.

And it wasn't a simple local event either. There are two major branches of the Thomas clan, one in Cleveland, the other in Birmingham, Alabama. Even with the distance, a large number of southern branch rented a bus while others drove to make the event.

Held in a suburban park, alongside a large pond, the reunion barbecue offered an inflatable castle bouncer for the children, and for the adults good food, cards, and lots of talk. And I actually don't think anyone could complain about the weather--80 and sunshine--definitely a nice day to catch up with family.

Thanks has to go out to all those who planned the event, prepared the food, served, and cleaned. I think special thanks should go to Sandra's mother, Darthis. Simply, she is the Energizer bunny and played a major role in the barbecue and in other reunion events.
